DBS stands for The Disclosure and Barring Service

All childcarers registering or registered with Link Childcare are required to hold a valid ​E​nhanced DBS check. DBS now have an update service which ​is​ ​an online subscription service that ​lets you keep your DBS certificates up to date and allows employers to check a certificate online, with your consent.​ You can take your DBS ​Certificate​ from one job to another. If you are a childcarer that needs to update your DBS or if you are a family hiring a nanny yourself then Link Childcare can assist your nanny with this application.

When hiring a nanny and becoming an employer, it is important to have the requirements and responsibilities set out. This is so both the family and childcarer are clear on what is required of them and for all expectations to be met. The working agreement between an employer and childcarer is a legal requirement and needs to take the form of an employment contract. This protects both interests and ensures that there is a clear understanding between you and your nanny.

Link Childcare are happy to assist with providing a draft contract that will set out all the basic legal requirements for an employer. Please note we cannot provide advice and support for nanny share arrangements due to tax implications but do have recommendations for companies who are more specialised if you would like to discuss any of the above further.
